Personal statement

My aim, since I can remember, is to achieve a career involving music. I have always been interested and inspired by music and find that it helps me to express myself. I am varied in my musical ability and as a result have learnt the keyboard, guitar and voice.  Relevant to music performing, I have been involved in past school events such as village Hall Tours, performing to audiences and organizing my own musical sets. I have competed, and won, in my schools talent show, which very much increased my musical ability to perform.  I won a competition covering the western highlands, and as a result recorded and sold a three track demo CD of my own songs with the accompaniment of a peer. I have also performed in various events within my village; this includes supporting local bands such as Blazin’ Fiddles, Blaze and performing with acts such as Dun Mor Ceilidh band.

Hobbies & Interests

Taking part in outer-curricular activities such as volunteering, from which I have achieved 100 hours in - This helped me develop my skills of being reliable, caring, trustworthy and responsible. I have been a member of The Highland Youth Voice, which I was elected for in 2016. This involved strong communication skills, listening skills, persuasive skills, confidence and determination that I believe I now have. I have great skill in being creative with my music, I can compose and perform my own material. My other interests lay in animal rights and environmental issues in which I expressed through study of Higher English, converting my thoughts, research and ideas to essay & portfolio work. I was also a member of ‘Eco Schools’ in which was a great way of putting my ideas and concerns forward. Other hobbies include baking and sports. Both in which I developed through high school competing in football and shinty matches and previously supplying baking goods for my local café (The Ariundle Centre) and currently my local food restaurant (The Strontian Hotel).

I feel like these interests all tie in with being a professional live performer as they show my creativity in various sectors as well as my skills of listening, organisation and communication. My personality is full of expression and to be a successful live performer you must have this aspect within yourself.
